5 Fabulous Hair Care Routine for Autumn

Summer makes our skin and hair miserable. The humidity and dry heat affecting it drastically. From hair breakages to skin breakages, we have gone through it all. It's time to move on from the humidity and heat to experience some cool breeze brushing against our skin and hair. The cooler dry air will make them un-manageable so which is why we have come up with a few ‘cool’ tips for your hair and skin care routine!

Hair Care Routine

a) Avoid the ponytail

During summers it's understandable to tie your hair so that the humidity doesn’t get to you but it tends to cause a lot of hair breakage and scalp distress. As autumn approaches, the scalp faces extreme levels of dryness which is why it is advisable to leave your hair down or slightly pinned up. Never ever wear the ponytail to bed.

b) Get a fresh trim

After summers, your hair must be screaming, “get me a trim!”. The summers leave your hair damaged and fried. It is important to book a salon appointment and get rid of those split-ends and opt for a new style altogether. Also, new season, new me!

c) Moisturize

I am sure you are aware of the dry itchy sensations your hair and scalp gets as temperatures stoop. The transition between seasons makes it imperative for us to change the shampoo and conditioner so that our hair can adjust to the new weather. Try an overnight treatment with the Matrix Biolage Exquisite Oil Replenishing Treatment before shampooing. It goes without saying that your hair will look glossy and fresh post-wash.

d) Avoid excessive use of Shampoo

Avoid excessive amounts of shampoo on your hair and scalp. It leads to dryness during cooler weather days. Also avoid excessive shampooing in general. Unless your scalp is extremely oily, you probably don’t need to shampoo it everyday. For regular hair, an alternative which you could use is skipping the shampoo, and washing your hair with lukewarm water and then conditioning and rinsing it with cold water. For when you do use a shampoo, use something gentle like the Redken Frizz Dismiss Shampoo to give your hair a hydration boost or the L’Oreal Serie B6 + Bitoni Inforcer Strengthening Shampoo. Most curly hair can go a week without shampooing. Drier, curly hair can also benefit from a technique called co-washing, in which hair is washed using …wait for it…conditioner.

e) Drench your Hair in Conditioner

And when all else fails there is also conditioner. Condition like a queen with these super rich and luxuriant conditioners. Try the Kerastese Resistance Ciment Anti-Usure for Weak Hair, a hair strengthening, repairing and anti-breakage bit of conditioning goodness. Or the Moroccan Oil Special Edition Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, to repair your hair back to it’s shiny hydrated self with the help of argan oil. You can also try a rich leave-in conditioner like the Kerastese Nutritive Nectar Thermique Polishing Nourishing Milk, to protect it from any drying from heat-based styling, blow drying, and even against the harsh autumn wind.

Come come now, embrace the new season with this new hair care routine.
